Design Inspiration

I can't get enough of this gorgeous Rutherford, California wedding! And my favorite detail? This outdoor dinner setup! The table setting design and florals are lovely, and the tree canopy is so stunning it's almost too good to be true. And how perfect are those string lights and unique chandeliers? Jacin, of Jacin Fitzgerald Events, truly outdid herself styling this space.

Vendor: Creative Cake Design

I first met Tammy Hodge, the owner of Creative Cake Design, at the Wilmington Wedding Showcase, and I knew from the start that I wanted to feature her bakery on the blog! She is the sweetest lady you will ever meet, and her cakes are absolutely divine. I had the pleasure of visiting her adorable bakery in person, and she shared her story with me so that I could share it with all of you!

Four years ago, Tammy jumped at the opportunity to turn her hobby of baking into a full time job. With the help and support of her family, she started Creative Cake Design, and the business has been booming ever since. The bakery offers a variety of desserts including cake pops, cookies, full dessert bars, and of course, cakes. In its first year of operation, it catered 28 fantastic weddings, and by the end of the third year it had jumped to 176 weddings with over 500 orders in total! Tammy does all of the designing, baking, and decorating herself, so you can count on quality work (in both appearance and flavor!) every time. I can't wait to see everything she does in 2015!

From Tammy: "I LOVE what I do! The joy that I get when I turn out the perfect sweets and treats for my clients is what makes the long hours worthwhile. I couldn't ask for a better job. I look forward to being a sweet part of your occasions. Thank you for including me in the fun part of your lives!"

Sandra + Nick

This sweet Laguna Beach, California proposal has me swooning! The two had their first date in January of 2013, and Nick surprised Sandra by getting down on one knee two years later.

Here's how he did it:

"Nick and I had discussed getting engaged and married multiple times over the past few months, but he had always told me it was going to have to wait at least another 2-4 months before he could get a ring. So, I was clueless and confused when he made super early brunch reservations at The Driftwood Kitchen in Laguna Beach (on a Sunday of all days!). His excuse was that I say we don't go out as much anymore, so now he had made plans to put a smile on my face. I followed along and made it to our 9am reservations, but when we asked to be seated the restaurant told us our reservation was at 10 am and that we'd have to wait. At this point, I started getting a bit frustrated.. c'mon really?! The reservation time slipped your mind, ugh! Little did I know, Nick had been planning this for quite some time, and he had made the reservations at 10 am on purpose. He had asked the restaurant staff ahead of time to ensure they wouldn't seat us! Before I could ask Nick if he wanted to wait or go, he told the hostess, "Sure, no problem," and proceeded to talk me into killing time with a walk on the beach. So, I unenthusiastically agreed.

Nick led me to the beach access where we took off our shoes and began a leisurely walk. Out of no-where we stumbled upon a big heart in the sane that is filled with red rose petals! Now I'm beginning to wonder what the heck is going on. Nick says to me, "Hey babe, look at the pretty heart. I wonder what it's for. Let's check it out!" I personally thought it must've been set up for someone else, but I still let Nick lead me to the heart. When we stepped inside, Nick grabbed my hands and asked me to look him in the eye. I couldn't help but tear up because I now knew what this was all about. Nick proceeded to profess his love for me, including exactly why he loved me and, ultimately, exactly why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He then got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his back pocket, and asked me if I would marry him! I was still wiping tears from my eyes and in shock, so all I could do was nod my head yes! He wanted to clarify so with a HUGE smile on his face he said, "Is that a yes?" and of course I confirmed.

Afterward, I found out that his friend had been hiding in the perfect spot taking pictures the whole time. And, Nick filled me in on the exciting events he had planned for the day. We ate brunch, attended a Bridal Show in Newport Beach, and ate a nice dinner at Mastro's Ocean Club on the Newport Coast. I could not have imagined the day going any better than it did! It was perfect!"

And, I can't get enough of this gorgeous ring! It's set on an 18-carat white gold band and has 4 scalloped set side stones on each side of the 2+ carat round echo cut center stone. The echo cut has 98 facets compared to the normal 48 facets.

Ashley + Bradley

I can't get enough of Ashley + Bradley's rustic wedding. The outdoor ceremony and barn reception in Cumming, Georgia created a perfect country wedding for these two southern sweethearts. And, I'll let you all in on a little secret - they love DIY projects, so they created almost everything themselves!

Ashley wore a beaded, strapless A-line gown with layered ruffles and lace embellishments. It was designed by Oleg Cassini and purchased from David's Bridal.

Ashley + Bradley met through mutual friends and soon found that they had a connection. Though she didn't want to rush into a relationship, Bradley never let her forget he was thinking about her. From sending flowers to her work to leaving little treats and notes to surprise her, he covered it all. They then began dating, and in less than three months were engaged. From the bride: "The love we have for each other is like nothing either of us have ever experienced. We tell each other all of the time that we are so lucky to have found the perfect one to spend our forever with."

From the bride: "My vision for the wedding was 'Country Chic.' I love the lace and burlap look! We went with ivory, tan, and plum for our color palette. We incorporated old books, mason jars, and dollies within the table arrangements. We did all of the decorations ourselves, and my mother made all ten cakes for the cake table and did the candy bar. She also made all of the bouquets, boutonnieres, save the dates, invites, and thank-you cards. I love how everything turned out!"

The bride and groom had a sand ceremony that included her son, and it was her father that married them. So special and sweet!
