Sandra + Nick

This sweet Laguna Beach, California proposal has me swooning! The two had their first date in January of 2013, and Nick surprised Sandra by getting down on one knee two years later.

Here's how he did it:

"Nick and I had discussed getting engaged and married multiple times over the past few months, but he had always told me it was going to have to wait at least another 2-4 months before he could get a ring. So, I was clueless and confused when he made super early brunch reservations at The Driftwood Kitchen in Laguna Beach (on a Sunday of all days!). His excuse was that I say we don't go out as much anymore, so now he had made plans to put a smile on my face. I followed along and made it to our 9am reservations, but when we asked to be seated the restaurant told us our reservation was at 10 am and that we'd have to wait. At this point, I started getting a bit frustrated.. c'mon really?! The reservation time slipped your mind, ugh! Little did I know, Nick had been planning this for quite some time, and he had made the reservations at 10 am on purpose. He had asked the restaurant staff ahead of time to ensure they wouldn't seat us! Before I could ask Nick if he wanted to wait or go, he told the hostess, "Sure, no problem," and proceeded to talk me into killing time with a walk on the beach. So, I unenthusiastically agreed.

Nick led me to the beach access where we took off our shoes and began a leisurely walk. Out of no-where we stumbled upon a big heart in the sane that is filled with red rose petals! Now I'm beginning to wonder what the heck is going on. Nick says to me, "Hey babe, look at the pretty heart. I wonder what it's for. Let's check it out!" I personally thought it must've been set up for someone else, but I still let Nick lead me to the heart. When we stepped inside, Nick grabbed my hands and asked me to look him in the eye. I couldn't help but tear up because I now knew what this was all about. Nick proceeded to profess his love for me, including exactly why he loved me and, ultimately, exactly why he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He then got down on one knee, pulled a ring from his back pocket, and asked me if I would marry him! I was still wiping tears from my eyes and in shock, so all I could do was nod my head yes! He wanted to clarify so with a HUGE smile on his face he said, "Is that a yes?" and of course I confirmed.

Afterward, I found out that his friend had been hiding in the perfect spot taking pictures the whole time. And, Nick filled me in on the exciting events he had planned for the day. We ate brunch, attended a Bridal Show in Newport Beach, and ate a nice dinner at Mastro's Ocean Club on the Newport Coast. I could not have imagined the day going any better than it did! It was perfect!"

And, I can't get enough of this gorgeous ring! It's set on an 18-carat white gold band and has 4 scalloped set side stones on each side of the 2+ carat round echo cut center stone. The echo cut has 98 facets compared to the normal 48 facets.
